"All kids need is a little help, a little hope and somebody who believes in them" - philosophy of the Lucky Brand Foundation
Since its creation in 1996, the Lucky Brand Foundation has raised millions of dollars to help a variety of charities bring new hope and brighter futures to disabled children. The Foundation makes donations where they will have the most immediate impact on the quality of life and well-being of the children involved. Much of the funds are raised through the Foundation's annual Black Tie & Blue Jeans Gala, consistently a popular, well-attended event drawing hundreds of guests from Hollywood's fashion and entertainment elite.
INSPIRATION
A number of years ago Gene Montesano and Barry Perlman, founders of Lucky Brand, were moved by personal experiences with disabled children. However, when they looked into existing foundations and charities to see how they might help kids like these, they came up against innumerable rules and restrictions, thwarting their desire to deliver help immediately. This experience was the genesis of The Lucky Brand Foundation which they created to make an immediate difference in children's lives. Just as Gene & Barry avoid the spotlight, the Foundation seeks out charities that aren't high-profile, where a little help goes a long way. Most charities aided by the Foundation today have enjoyed loyal, long-term relationships lasting for many years. The Foundation continues to thrive and grow through the support of Gene, Barry and countless caring Lucky Brand customers and donors.
MISSION STATEMENT
Bringing happiness, comfort and hope to disabled children is the goal of the Lucky Brand Foundation. And in an unusual twist on this idea, the Foundation strives to make an immediate difference in these children's lives. Donations are given only to charities that will put them to use at once, for specific and tangible results: to purchase equipment, for example, or to provide medical care. Donations are never to be used in any part for a charity's administrative costs.
